Millennium Development Goals Conference 2010 Call to Action

During the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, KidsRights staged the Millennium Development Goals Conference in Johannesburg. Over 200 attendees were addressed by notable people including Archbishop Desmond Tutu, former president FW de Klerk and Graça Machel, Founder of the Foundation for Community Development in Mozambique. The winners of the International Childrens Peace Prize of 2007, 2008 and 2009, Thandiwe, Mayra and Baruani, shared their ideas and concerns about the still often wretched conditions in which many children live.

The result of the conference, the Johannesburg Call to Action, is a call to world leaders to renew their attention and commitment to achieving the MDGs. The Johannesburg Call to Action, signed by many influential citizens of the world was presented to the members of the Millennium Development Goals Summit of the United Nations in September 2010.
