Sofia's Story

Sofia, who lives in Costa Rica, was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia at the age of 10. When in hospital, she noticed the poor conditions in which many children were being treated for cancer, and she started her campaign, Thank you for smiling with me Sofi. Sofia designed bracelets and sold them for $10 each. It was a great success, and with the money she raised, she was able to donate nine vital signs monitors to the hospital. This was Sofia’s way of dealing with her disease. Now she has the all clear, but she still gives motivational talks to businesses, schools, colleges and churches about her own experience. In the future, Sofia wants to continue her campaign, and help even more children.
