Soumili Das
No peace heals deeper than the peace a child finds within themselves., she believes every child has the right to understand and help their own emotional wellbeing.

Soumili Das (16), from India, has faced her own mental health struggles, including past suicidal thoughts. Rather than staying silent, she decided mental health needed real solutions—not just conversations. This led her to found The Sukoon Within (TSW), a youth-led organization providing mental health education to underprivileged children in India, with a mission to prevent student suicides and harmful addictions among young people.
In just three months, 16-year-old Soumili built a team of more than 50 volunteers from around the world and ran over 10 sessions, both online and in person. Her approach combines research—drawing on insights from organizations like WHO and UN—with interactive sessions that help children become more self-aware and better understand their emotions. She has also grown a global volunteer network connecting with people across India who care about mental health.
With guidance from other nonprofit founders, Soumili has reached thousands of children, helping them build emotional awareness and healthier ways to manage their feelings—especially in communities where mental health support is hard to find.
