Yalda Latifi

Do not turn away from Afghan girls — we are not headlines, we are children with dreams. Every child deserves safety, education, and a voice. When the world is silent about girls’ rights, it becomes part of the injustice.

Yalda Latifi

Yalda Latifi (17), grew up in Afghanistan, where she witnessed girls forced out of school, children pushed into labor instead of education, and families silenced for speaking up about their rights. Growing up in a society where girls’ voices were often overlooked and boys’ opportunities prioritized, these experiences shaped her into a fierce advocate for children’s rights.

Yalda has used national platforms to make her voice heard, delivering speeches on National Television, TOLO TV, and TOLOnews about the killing of Afghan girls and children, and speaking out on how conflict impacts children and families. She even delivered a speech in front of President Ashraf Ghani, calling for the First Lady to visit provinces and listen directly to women and girls, while advocating for children’s participation in international programs. She was invited to the Presidential Palace as a representative of Afghan children, sharing the stage with national figures including Sharbat Gula.

Today, Yalda continues to spread her message of children’s rights and advocacy on Instagram, proving that even amid immense adversity, young voices can reach the highest levels of power.
