3 countries from East Asia and the Pacific region – Thailand, Republic of Korea and Japan – feature among the top 25 countries in the KidsRights Index 2026. However, only 13% of the countries from the region are categorized in Cluster 1 – top performing countries. The highest proportion of countries from this region feature in Cluster 2 – 48%, followed by Cluster 3 – 23%. Papua New Guinea is the only country from the region that features in Cluster 5, which is the lowest Cluster.
