Young people push gender equality forward: 2025 International Children’s Peace Prize Project Fund Impact Report is live
Every year, KidsRights awards the International Children’s Peace Prize to a child who fights courageously for children’s rights. In addition to supporting the winners, KidsRights also supports projects of other young changemakers related to the winner’s theme.
Inspired by 2024 International Children’s Peace Prize winner Nila Ibrahimi, 13 youth-led projects across 10 countries took action for gender equality. From defending girls’ right to education to challenging discrimination in their communities, these young leaders proved that change starts from the ground up. This changemaking call was financially supported by WereldWijd voor Kinderen (WWvK).
We are now proud to launch the report that showcases the impact of the 13 funded projects implemented by State of Youth Chapters across 10 countries – see individual reports here. The selected Chapters received grants ranging from €500 to €2,500 to implement youth-led projects promoting gender equality, all focused on Sustainable Development Goal 5 (Gender Equality) and its intersection with children’s rights. They addressed issues including girls’ access to education, inclusive school environments, women’s empowerment, refugee rights, community awareness, youth leadership, and many others.
Collectively, the projects reached more than 35,000 people globally, including over 19,000 children, 7,000 youth, and 9,000 adults.
2025 International Children’s Peace Prize Project Fund Impact Report
Beyond statistics, the report reflects the voices and experiences of the young leaders behind these projects. Participating Chapters shared how the funding enabled them to expand their work, strengthen community engagement, and build more sustainable youth-led initiatives.
