  • Country: India
  • Goal: To rescue and rehabilitate child slaves

Child slavery and exploitation are the daily reality for millions of children in India. With support of KidsRights our local partner BBA can rescue around hundreds of children a year from bonded labour. These children are temporarily accommodated in a shelter (Mukti Ashram), where they get medical and psychological help. The goal is that all children eventually return home. When this is not possible, they will stay in the family setting home of BBA (Bal Ashram), for a longer period of time. While living in the Bal Ashram, they go to school and prepare for a future without child labor.

Our project partner BBA

KidsRights’ partner Bachpan Bachao Andolan (BBA) has been fighting against serious forms of child labour in India for over 30 years. BBA was founded by Nobel Peace Prize Winner 2014 Kailash Satyarthi. The work of BBA includes immediate liberation actions and information campaigns in villages to change national legislation in the field of child labour. Prevention through education and poverty reduction is the key to a future without child slavery.
