Baruani was born in the Democratic Republic of Congo, but had to flee to Tanzania due to the war. In Tanzania he told thousands of refugee children about their rights, the importance of education and equality of sustainable peace. He did this through his radioshow Sisi Kwa Sisi, Children for Children.
Not only did he talk to children about these topics and their experiences during this show, he also tried to reconnect children, who had lost contact with their families due to the war, back with their families. Last year he was able to move to South Africa to prepare to go to the university, and two students sought him out in the university. They ask Baruani everything about his life in Tanzania and his plans for the future!
