During the conference on Poverty and Debt, organized by the Dutch Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment, Marc Dullaert was invited to speak about the development of the Children’s Poverty Monitor, a joint project by KidsRights and Erasmus University Rotterdam. Marc actively engaged in a fruitful conversation with Minister Carola Schouten and Princess Laurentien van Oranje on the significance of the monitor in combating child poverty.
Silvia said (anonymized) “As a 13-year-old girl living in poverty, the hardest part wasn’t the lack of material things, it was the way it affected my relationships with others. At school, no one wanted to be my friend, and everyone looked at me weirdly. At home, my parents were always at work, so I had no one to turn to for support.”
