Marc Dullaert, founder and chair of KidsRights, commented: “Many policymakers and governments have reviewed their own policies in response to our report. In particular, they have examined whether children’s mental health—currently under pressure due to social media—is sufficiently protected in their country. That is exactly the kind of response we at KidsRights hope for.”

In the Netherlands, parliamentary questions were raised, and the government responded quickly with an advisory on children’s use of social media.

KidsRights, together with a research group, will continue to study how to create a safe digital environment for children. In the coming period, we will continue to provide governments and policymakers with insights and recommendations in this area.
