Abdullah Eeshan

"No child chooses how, where or which group they are born into and it is our collective responsibility as human beings to treat every child with equity so that they may grow up to bring meaningful change themselves."

Abdullah Eeshan

Abdullah Eeshan (15), from Pakistan, grew up in a military family, moving schools, cities and provinces every few years. These experiences gave him a broad view of the challenges children face across Pakistan. Seeing poverty and discrimination based on race, religion, gender and sexuality inspired him to take action.

As President of Shanakht.pk, Abdullah has helped create safe spaces in schools and orphanages where children can discuss the issues they face. He has also supported interfaith solidarity through cross-religious initiatives, including food drives for Christian orphanages, and organized drives providing medical supplies, clothing, food and cooking equipment.

Abdullah also worked with the Government of Punjab’s School Education Department on what became the Chief Minister’s Meal Program, providing meals to children in impoverished areas of south Punjab. His advocacy brought young people’s perspectives and hidden issues around gender and religion to senior officials, contributing to province-wide policy change and improved education quality in Punjab.
