Angel Mwongeli Muteti

Acts of kindness bring feelings of happiness and joy.

Angel Mwongeli Muteti

Angel Mwongeli Muteti (12), is from Kenya. Angel Mwongeli Muteti’s passion for children’s rights grew from her own experiences. After her parents separated when she was in Grade One, Angel faced discrimination, rejection and periods of hardship. These experiences shaped her understanding of how deeply exclusion can affect a child’s sense of belonging.

Today, Angel uses storytelling, writing and art to help other children speak about their experiences and understand their rights. As a co-facilitator at a storytelling hub, she helps create safe spaces where children can share stories about discrimination, exclusion and abuse, and feel heard and supported.

Angel also turns her ideas into creative advocacy. Through writing and painting, she communicates messages about children’s rights in ways that are accessible to other young people. Her storytelling has reached beyond her local community, with her piece “Kids and Kindness” featured by Tell a Story Foundation in Uganda during its weekly media engagements. Supported by New Hope Community Initiative and other caring adults, Angel is showing how a child’s voice can create space for others to speak up too.
