Lycipriya Kangujam

Licypriya Kangujam (14) is from India. Born in Manipur, India, in 2011, Licypriya’s activism began at a young age after attending a UN disaster conference in Mongolia with her father, where she learned about climate change, disaster risk, and global inequality — and it changed everything for her.

Since then, she has staged peaceful protests, including outside the Indian Parliament, demanding urgent climate action and stronger legal protections for children facing environmental harm. Her actions have brought national attention to how vulnerable children are to the effects of climate change.

Licypriya has consistently called on the Indian government to pass a dedicated climate change law to protect children’s futures. She also campaigns for climate change and disaster preparedness to become a required part of school education, so children grow up equipped with the knowledge and resilience to face what’s ahead.

With her father guiding her activism and accompanying her to international forums, Licypriya has become one of the youngest voices pushing world leaders to take climate change seriously.
