Ahadi and Tabisa, both 15 from the Democratic Republic of Congo, have become powerful youth advocates for children’s rights in one of the world’s most challenging environments. Growing up amid poverty, insecurity, and limited access to education and healthcare, they experienced firsthand the injustices of child labor, violence, and lack of protection. Motivated by these realities, they committed themselves to raising awareness and mobilizing communities to defend children’s rights. Together, they organize awareness sessions in schools and neighborhoods, lead campaigns against child exploitation and early marriage, and advocate with local authorities to improve education and health infrastructure. They have also provided practical support to vulnerable children through school supply drives and access to support structures for victims of violence. Their work has been recognized by NGOs and international organizations, giving them platforms to speak out globally on behalf of children in the DRC.

Through both online and offline actions, Ahadi and Tabisa have mobilized thousands. Their social media campaigns have reached audiences of over 10,000 views, while radio broadcasts have connected with families in areas with limited internet access. They have co-organized workshops for over 1,000 children, collected more than 1,000 petition signatures demanding improvements in schools, and directly impacted communities through awareness campaigns reaching hundreds in disadvantaged areas. At local levels, their advocacy has contributed to classroom renovations and mechanisms to report violence. Regionally, they have worked with NGOs to secure medical care and protect girls from early marriage. Globally, their testimonies have strengthened international advocacy for child protection in the DRC. Together, Ahadi and Tabisa embody resilience and leadership, proving that children’s participation is essential for creating a more just and hopeful future.
