Ali grew up in a middle-class family, and he suffers from cerebral palsy and developmental challenges. Ali has benefited from the Al Kafaat Foundation’s services (medical, paramedical and educational services and financial support) for children with special needs. Persons with special needs do not have their rights acknowledged in the Lebanese constitution and are therefore discriminated. Ali was offered a platform on air in a socio-political show on a prominent TV station twice. Ali addressed the major problems, called upon government officials to take urgent action and resolve the issue. Eventually the minister responded, met with Ali in person and promised that the subsides would be paid and that the Al Kafaat Foundation would reopen.
