Angel, 15, was born with a life-threatening condition called Congenital Hydrocephalus. This means that she has extra liquid in her brain, making her head larger than normal. However, Angel did not let this affect her. She successfully created a campaign to help people accept themselves the way they are and not give up. From a very young age, Angel has been passionate about music. She was declared a child champion by UNICEF because of her efforts to raise awareness about children with disabilities. Angel has had a huge impact in Kenya, as there are many people with special needs, especially children, who face discrimination daily. As a result of her campaigning and awareness-raising, lots of people have started to view disabilities differently. Angel wants to visit villages where children with disabilities are killed or caged due to society’s pressure, in order to tell people there that having a disability should not stop you from dreaming.
