Beamlak comes from Ethiopia where racial civil wars to religious conflict have increased in the recent years. Most adults have given up, and children are attempting to flee. However, Beamlak believes that in order to change the situation you have to face it head on, rather than ignoring it. Beamlak has no background in public policy, campaigning, or activism other than the online courses she takes, her ability to teach and persuade people is unparalleled. 

Beamlak has also collaborated with the Center for the Advancement of Rights and Democracy (CARD) to provide monthly trainings on a variety of human rights issues. Beamlak’s CARD training has reached over 500 people. The training is regarded as incredibly crucial in transitioning from a closed and intolerant mindset to one that is more open and acceptable by the community.
