Betty is a Nigerian girl who has always been a vocal advocate against child abuse. Her motivation stems from the sexual abuse that her friend suffered. Betty aims to work with international organizations in the future to ensure children’s rights are protected, especially in African countries, where children can often be used as slaves or sex workers. She is trying to achieve this on her own with the initiative “Speak-Out Against Child Abuse”. This campaign has been specifically targeting local secondary schools, as these have the highest number of abused children. Her initiative has created massive awareness regarding the topic and on the issue on how to recognize child abuse. She has also published multiple articles in well-known newspapers and magazines about children’s rights in Nigeria, reaching a very wide audience.
