Bright, a 15-year-old from Southern Nigeria, turned the trauma of devastating floods in 2022 into a mission to protect children’s right to a safe and healthy environment. Witnessing how climate change forced families from their homes and disrupted children’s education inspired her to create EcoQuest, an interactive card game that teaches young people about deforestation, pollution, food waste, and climate solutions in a fun, accessible way. Using her skills as a digital illustrator and aspiring architect, Bright ensures the game empowers children to see themselves as climate leaders, while also sparking intergenerational conversations in homes and schools.
Through workshops and game sessions in schools and rural communities, Bright has already engaged children who are discussing environmental issues for the first time. EcoQuest has been translated into multiple local and indigenous languages, making climate education more inclusive for marginalized children. Teachers have also begun integrating the game into environmental clubs and projects like tree-planting and recycling. As a semi-finalist in the Wix Creators of Tomorrow Challenge, Bright is developing a web platform to expand EcoQuest globally, amplifying her dream of giving every child the tools to protect their environment and shape a safer future.
