Cissy is a 16-year-old girl who has faced several challenges regarding education. This included not being able to afford school tuition fees and walking long distances to school every day. Thankfully, she managed to complete her secondary education after receiving a bursary. Since primary school, Cissy has fought for the rights of students and this led to a decrease in bullying and corporal punishments by teachers. She convinced her father to talk to teachers about the long walking distance to school and this led to the construction of a boarding house for students who lived far away. Her advocacy resulted in people recognizing the rights of children in schools, leading to stricter laws, such as the prohibition of corporal punishments in schools. In the future, Cissy wants to sensitize the public about children’s rights through television broadcasts, radio presentations and social media.
