Haya was born in Gaza, to a family of 5 siblings. When she was 3 her father passed away and her mother was left with the responsibility to care for her and her siblings. This left her with a big financial burden, as most single mothers in Gaza. Haya was selected to represent all the UNRWA schools in the Gaza strip. Aside from her duties at school, she works at an orphanage and a kindergarten. She also runs seminars where she educates children and their parents about children’s rights.
