Irene was born in the slums of Soweto. As a young activist, she has helped other girls access sanitary towels hence reducing school absenteeism and helping girls of her age group to fight period stigma. She helped and contributed in winning Green Kids Award, an award given to children who take measures to protect the environment. Irene has created awareness on children rights amongst her peers. In the future, she wants to make sure all children attend school and they have access to sanitary towels and other important school supplies. She also wants to teach children and their parents on children rights.
