Juliana is a passionate female footballer, a runway model and an advocate for girls’ football. She is a refugee from South Sudan who, together with her family, sought asylum in Uganda after the Civil War in their home country. During school, her interest in sports, especially football, grew. Juliana joined the boys school football team since a girls team never existed. She has interested 13 other Sudanese friends to get back in school. After settling in Uganda, she has introduced 7 of them into Faces Up Uganda’s mentorship program. Being a passionate changemaker, Juliana took up a leadership position in her school as a sports prefect. Now she is the General Duties prefect, position which she took on the 5th March 2019. Since she joined the boys’ football team in 2017, she inspired other girls to participate in sports, especially football. Because of her efforts as a sports prefect, a girls only football team in her school now exists.
