Maung, 17, grew up in the world’s largest refugee camp in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh, after fleeing violence in Myanmar. Experiencing child labor, early marriage, and exclusion from education firsthand, he transformed these challenges into a platform for advocacy. Using theatre, storytelling, and community engagement, Solaiman has raised awareness on child rights, digital safety, gender equality, and education. He founded the Youths Led Initiative (YLI), training over 80 young leaders to run local campaigns on climate justice, education, and youth empowerment.
Solaiman’s impact spans both online and offline spaces. His videos and social media campaigns have reached over 100,000 people, while he has facilitated hundreds of sessions in communities, preventing child marriages and helping out-of-school children return to learning. Through mentoring, mobilizing families, and collaborating with global youth networks, Solaiman demonstrates that even in the toughest circumstances, children can lead change and inspire entire communities.
