Mirriam, 17, from Zambia, has dedicated her life to advocating for children’s rights, health, and climate justice. Growing up in a low-resource community, she witnessed firsthand how poverty, poor sanitation, and limited educational facilities affected children. Motivated to create change, she has led initiatives as National Chairperson of the Children’s News Agency, raising awareness and producing child-focused media. She played a pivotal role in advocating for the passage of the Child Code Bill and contributed to policies such as the Child Participation Framework and Child Safeguarding Policy.

Her impact spans both local and global platforms. Mirriam has represented youth at COP27, COP28, and the World Health Assembly, engaged policymakers on climate action and immunization, and empowered over 100 children through media and advocacy training. Through workshops, community outreach, and media campaigns reaching over 50,000 people, she ensures that children’s voices are heard and their rights protected, demonstrating leadership that bridges national policy and grassroots action.
