Nada is a 16-year-old girl, who is renown in Yemen for having escaped two different marriage proposals. In 2013, she posted a video on YouTube talking about her experience with child marriages, which quickly went viral and prompted uncensored coverage of Yemen’s continued practice of child marriage. Nada is now continuing her education in Kenya, where she can finally live like any other child. She plans to continue raising awareness through YouTube videos and is working on organizing events around the world regarding children’s protection. She founded her own organization, the Nada Foundation, which seeks to protect children. Through this foundation, 400 girls have learned English. She managed to raise awareness among 60 Yemeni girls and saved them from being married off. Nada also has her own tv show called “Banat Nwaim” on the largest channel in the Middle East, MBC, where she raises awareness about children’s rights. She published a book about her story, which was translated into several languages.
