Nila, an Afghan activist, courageously fights for the rights of girls and women in Afghanistan. Her activism began in March 2021 when she defied a ban on schoolgirls singing publicly by posting a viral protest song, leading to the ban’s reversal within weeks. After the Taliban’s takeover, Nila escaped to Canada with help from the 30 Birds Foundation.

As the founder of HerStory, she highlights the resilience of Afghan women and serves as the Global Ambassador for Women and Girls at 30 Birds Foundation. Nila’s efforts include impactful speeches at global forums like TED and the Geneva Summit, and her advocacy supports around 4,000 Afghan girls in accessing alternative education despite the national ban. HerStory, with over 1,200 followers, continues to amplify the voices of Afghan girls, making a significant difference in their fight for education and equality.
