All 2020 Children’s Peace Prize Nominees

Since his childhood, Rama was exposed to all kinds of violence and bad practices around his neighborhood. Since 2018, he has been an active member of the Village Children Forum. He led the Village Children Forum to conduct campaigns for children’s rights. The campaigns are carried out by visiting sub-villages, schools, and groups of peers to spread awareness about types of violence against children, access to community-based child protection mechanisms in the village, and impacts of child marriage. Rama helped carry out ‘Posyandu Remaja’ (integrated mobile health services for adolescents). He also organized with relevant NGOs and a public health center several health services for adolescents such as weight, height, and blood pressure checks or sexuality and reproductive health counseling. At his school, Rama is the leader of the Student Council. He raises his voice regarding child rights and protection through wall magazines and peers discussions in the break sessions. He also advocates for students to be involved in decision-making. Due to his actions, people have become more aware about children rights and have the courage to raise their voices. More community members report cases of child marriage or other forms of violence against children and more children are involved in the decision-making process in their families or schools. In the future, he is planning to ensure the sustainability of his work and scale it up.
