Richard was 7-year-old when he stood up for his right to education. He collected a group of children who weren’t going to school either, collectively they went to a children’s rights organisation to seek help to start school. Richard was asked to join the children’s parliament in the camp to fight against children’s Rights in General and he was elected to be a speaker, which he still is today. He also campaigned against the violation of children’s rights and violence against children. With the support of the IRC, he established sports centers for children in Nyarugusu camp and call it “Child Friendly Space (CFS)” centers those help children to get their rights, to promote their talents and to help them achieve their dreams. Thanks to Richard two groups called C.P.C (Child Protection Committee) are established in his community as well. During the Covid-19 pandemic, Richard moved his advocacy to various radio programmes.
