Richard Achola is an orphan boy born in Kisumu County, Kenya. He was touched by the plight children face in his Luo community, especially sexual abuse and child labour. The child comes from an area characterized by large sugarcane plantations where a number of children have been lured to work. Richard was selected for Kenya’s Children Assembly, Homa Bay County, ran for the position of the governor and won. He has also participated in the development of a memorandum which has been shared with the National Government and County Government of Homa Bay. The memorandum was on the protection of rights of children and issues that they would like the government to address. Also, in his quality as Homa Bay County Children’s Assembly Governor, he represented other children in the Children Devolution Conference held in March 2019 at Nairobi Primary School.
