Rodney is the founder of an all youth organization (Young Leaders of Today), based in Jacksonville, Florida, which empowers and engages young men and women through civic and social action. Young Leaders of Today is now a 42 members organization and is a registered NGO. Rodney has orchestrated three successful student-led community panels and organized a team of students. Rodney’s organization partnered with Congressman Al Lawson to bring together students, elected officials, school board members, and community leaders to address the state of the youth. Young Leaders of Today worked with Florida’s Fourth Judicial Circuit State Attorney, Public Defender’s and Sheriff’s offices to present an event about the juvenile justice system and the school to prison pipeline in Jacksonville, which provided school and city officials information to take back to their offices. Rodney is the Vice President for the Mayor’s Young Leaders Advisory Council, Coordination for Students for Donna Campaign and President of Kappa Alpha Psi, Incorporated’s Kappa League. In 2020, the Young Leaders will launch Political-ish (an innovative student-led media platform engaging students in Florida), pre-register 2000 students to vote, and launch Jacksonville’s first student fellowship program.
