Shahorin is passionate about children’s rights and community work, having experienced injustice and oppression as a young underprivileged child. She initiates and champions various humans rights projects in her community, through which she empowers other children to do the same. Since 2015 Shahorin is the community librarian and leader of the Girls-Go-For-Greatness girl empowerment club. Since 2016, she is the recipient of a scholarship from the Centre for Children’s Health Education, Orientation and Protection (CEE-HOPE). For her work in this organization Shahorin was featured in a documentary called “Give Us This Day Our monthly Pads”. For this campaign she was interviewed on TV about period poverty. Various organizations and individuals donated money and pads after having watched the documentary. She also received a scholarship from The Women’s Helping Hands Initiative (TWHHI), organization ran from the wife od the present vice president of Nigeria.
