Shanariha, a 13-year-old from Kenya, is a dedicated climate change activist, environmentalist, educator, and author. She founded the Young Warriors Club Kenya, a youth-led nonprofit that empowers young people to actively protect the environment. Shanariha has led initiatives including mangrove planting, coral reef restoration, ocean conservation, climate literacy programs for students aged 9 to 17, and monthly beach clean-ups in Mombasa. She has also written the children’s book The Ocean Warriors, produced environmental films and songs, and created eco-sustainable school bags from repurposed materials, inspiring youth to engage in environmental action.
Through her advocacy, Shanariha has reached millions online via social media platforms and engaged over 2,000 participants in workshops and programs. Offline, she has trained more than 700 students in 26 schools as environmental guardians, conducted multiple large-scale beach clean-ups, and planted over 270,000 mangroves across four coastal counties. Her work combines education, community action, and environmental stewardship, fostering awareness and active participation among young people while creating tangible improvements in Kenya’s coastal ecosystems.
