Ssirikwerabira, 16, from Nsambya, Uganda, grew up witnessing the barriers many children face in accessing quality education. Motivated to change this, she founded Community Book Clinics, a youth-led initiative providing inclusive, play-based literacy programs for school-going and out-of-school children. Her work creates safe spaces for learning, using storytelling, crafts, and mobile “Literacy on Wheels” sessions to reach underserved neighborhoods.

Supported by the Read to Learn Foundation, Janefrancise has trained and mobilized fellow youth to expand literacy initiatives, reintegrate out-of-school children, and advocate for educational equity. Her hands-on clinics have reached over 500 children, while national and international platforms amplify her message on the importance of equitable access to learning. Through her leadership, Janefrancise demonstrates that children themselves can be powerful agents of change, ensuring that every child has the tools and support to thrive.
