Syeda, a 16-year-old from Bangladesh, has dedicated herself to amplifying the voices of children and advocating for their rights across the country. Through her work as a child reporter at ATN Bangla and publications on platforms like bdnews24, she has highlighted critical issues including child abuse, child nutrition, domestic violence, child labor, child marriage, mental health, and the impacts of floods and other crises on young people. Her reporting has reached both government authorities and organizations like UNICEF, prompting attention and action to address the challenges children face.
Despite facing skepticism from family and negative feedback from the wider community, Syeda has persevered, training other teenagers in child rights advocacy and raising awareness about pressing social issues such as child cancer and teenage drug addiction. Her dedication has led to tangible change, including government initiatives to appoint psychiatrists in schools and increased public awareness of children’s needs during crises. Through media and fieldwork, Syeda continues to inspire young people and drive systemic change for the protection, education, and well-being of children in Bangladesh.
