Why It Matters

Today, one in seven young people aged between 10 and 19 suffer mental health issues*. Too often, their voices are missing from the decisions that affect their lives.

At KidsRights UK, we empower young changemakers to share their stories, ideas and experiences to ensure their voices are heard when decisions are made.

By sponsoring a Youth Voice for £10 a month, you will help promote the well-being of vulnerable children across the world and advocate for the realisation of their rights.

KidsRights works to advance children’s rights and encourage child participation through our global pillars:

  • Advocacy – International Children’s Peace Prize

Awarded annually, the International Children’s Peace Prize recognises a child who courageously stands up for children’s rights and creates meaningful impact locally or globally.

  • Research – KidsRights Index

Published annually, the KidsRights Index is the first and only global ranking that measures how well children’s rights are respected worldwide.

  • Action – State of Youth

Through State of Youth, our global action platform, we empower young people aged 12–29 to become leaders and changemakers. This worldwide, youth-led movement provides tools, resources, and connections to take action on the UN Sustainable Development Goals, guided by children’s rights.

What We Stand For

At KidsRights UK, we want to ensure that children are being heard.

Despite the universal recognition of children’s rights through the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, their implementation remains inconsistent, leaving many young people without meaningful protection or genuine influence.

We work to close this gap by giving young people a platform to be heard, empowering them as changemakers, generating robust data on children’s rights, and driving policy change where it matters most.

Children’s Mental Health in a Digital World

The KidsRights Index 2025 reports that 14% of children and adolescents aged 10–19 globally face mental health challenges, with problematic social media and gaming use increasingly affecting wellbeing.

“Children’s mental health is at serious risk in an unsafe digital environment. Governments must protect children online, but balanced solutions are essential to avoid harming children’s wellbeing or violating their rights to participation and privacy.”
