Izwirashe Eline, a 17-year-old from Zimbabwe, is an advocate for children with disabilities, especially Deaf youth. After learning about the barriers faced by Deaf young people, she taught herself Sign Language to communicate more effectively and foster inclusivity. At just 14, she began developing her project Together in the Community, which creates opportunities for Deaf youth to learn essential life and vocational skills. One of her most innovative contributions is FlavourCity, a recipe book designed as a practical tool to help Deaf youth build culinary skills and independence. Through workshops and social media, she promotes Sign Language learning and awareness, reaching people across Zimbabwe and beyond.
Her efforts have been recognized internationally, earning her the Diana Award in 2024 and grant support from the Global Youth Mobilisation Fund and the European Union in 2025. Online, she shares Sign Language tutorials and cooking sessions that reach global audiences, while offline she has empowered hundreds of Deaf youth through hands-on workshops and mentorship. By combining advocacy, creativity, and inclusivity, Izwirashe is breaking barriers for children with disabilities and proving that sustainable change begins with empowering every child to thrive.
