Nisha, 14, from Indira Kalyan Vihar slum in New Delhi, is a fearless advocate for children’s rights and community transformation. Growing up amid poverty, substance abuse, and child exploitation, she became determined to create positive change. Through the Satyarthi Movement’s Bal Mitra Mandal (BMM) initiative, she was elected twice as Bal Upsarpanch (Vice President) of the children’s parliament, leading campaigns against addiction, child labor, and early marriage. Nisha also initiated programs like Hear My Roar and Paint the Change, using arts, sports, and murals to inspire hope, empower youth, and reclaim public spaces for positive activity.

Her impact reaches thousands both online and offline. Nisha distributed 227 mobile phones during the COVID-19 pandemic to support digital learning and mentored children in foundational tech skills. Offline, she has protected over 23,000 children through rallies, street plays, awareness campaigns, self-defense training, and home visits. She mobilized communities, connected families to welfare schemes, and inspired the creation of 132 child councils. Through her courage, advocacy, and leadership, Nisha has become a symbol of empowerment and resilience, proving that children can lead meaningful change in their communities.
