Sheikh, a 16-year-old from Bangladesh, is a dedicated advocate for children’s rights, focusing on education, child protection, and the prevention of child labor and child marriage. Growing up witnessing the struggles of vulnerable children, Toasin was determined to take action rather than stand by. He founded Nexus Bangladesh, a youth-led organization that empowers young people to engage in policymaking and advocacy. Through Nexus Bangladesh, he collaborates with local authorities, law enforcement, and community members to ensure children’s rights are respected and enforced. Toasin’s work highlights the importance of youth voices in decision-making and demonstrates the power of children and adolescents to effect systemic change.
Through his initiatives, Toasin has conducted workshops, signature campaigns, and awareness programs that reached hundreds of youth, families, and educators in Meherpur. His monitoring of the Children Act 2013 has strengthened its implementation locally, while his mentorship of young activists has cultivated a new generation committed to child rights advocacy. By combining grassroots engagement with collaboration across institutions, he has significantly improved access to education, healthcare, and protection for children, creating a lasting impact on his community.
