Veronika is a young activist from Ukraine who turned her personal experiences of war and occupation into a powerful commitment to children’s rights. Trapped in Russian-occupied territory at just 13, she witnessed the denial of safety, education, and freedom of expression, experiences that shaped her mission to protect and empower children. After escaping to Latvia and later returning to Ukraine, she founded the NGO Tangle of Skills, which provides peer-led education for children during wartime and mentors youth to become changemakers themselves. She has also represented Ukrainian children internationally, sharing her story at forums in Europe and North America to advocate for children’s safety and participation.
Her work has impacted thousands, from organizing festivals and trauma-relief camps to creating volunteering programs and launching media projects that amplify young voices. By combining grassroots action with international advocacy, Veronika ensures children are not only supported in times of crisis but also given a platform to shape their own futures.
