Atosha Biringanine

Every child, no matter their circumstances, deserves a safe, loving environment where they can access education, healthcare, and opportunities. We must stand together to protect and empower orphaned children.

Atosha Biringanine (15), from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, now living in Kenya, lost both parents at a young age because of conflict. Growing up without them, she experienced firsthand how difficult it can be for vulnerable children to access education, healthcare and emotional support.

Determined to make a difference, Atosha began raising awareness about the rights of orphans and other vulnerable children. She led local campaigns to help her community understand children’s rights to education, safety and protection from exploitation. She also petitioned local authorities and school leaders to make sure orphans have equal access to education.

Her efforts are already reaching families in her community. Through her awareness campaigns, Atosha has reached more than 12 local families, helping them better understand the importance of education, child protection and safety for orphans. Supported by her guardian/foster parent, Atosha continues to speak up for children who need to be heard.
