Nuzhat Woaziha Ohi
PROTECT CHILDREN, PROTECT FUTURE
Nuzhat Woaziha Ohi (14), is from Bangladesh. At her school, BAF Shaheen College, Nuzhat noticed something troubling — the canteen was being run by children her own age instead of by adults. As someone firmly against child labor, she decided to take action.
Nuzhat led two awareness workshops for parents on the importance of girls’ education, reaching over 45 community members. She built a youth volunteer team of 15 students dedicated to supporting children at risk of dropping out of school, and created three free weekly tutoring groups to keep kids learning.
Her efforts have already made a real difference — five children who weren’t attending school are now enrolled. Nuzhat also shares her message more widely through a Facebook page, and personally gives lectures to those in need.
With her parent’s steady support, Nuzhat is proving that even at 14, one determined student can help keep other children in school and out of the workforce.
