Abubakar Ali Bukar
“Always listen to the young voices, because our voices speak for innovation, progress, development, and what we reimagine for tomorrow. When you ignore our voices, you ignore the future.”

Abubakar Ali Bukar (16), from Nigeria, grew up in an area deeply affected by conflict. He witnessed his school being burned down and friends being killed, as well as floods that destroyed homes and turned schools into rivers. These experiences inspired him to speak up for children living through conflict and disasters.
Abubakar advocates for the implementation of the Child Protection Law in his state and creates opportunities for children to participate in decisions that affect them. Through radio programs, community awareness activities, leadership workshops and child development programs, he helps children understand their rights and find their voices.
His work is already making a difference. Abubakar has helped more than 50 children return to school and created new opportunities for child participation in his community. His message also reaches thousands online, with more than 4,000 Instagram followers, 2,000 on TikTok and 12,000 on Facebook. His collaborative videos often receive 10,000 to 20,000 views, extending his advocacy far beyond his community.
