Avni Jain

"The place you are born is only where your story begins — never where it ends."

Avni Jain (16), is from India. At 16, Avni Jain saw how a lack of education can keep inequality in place. Her journey began after watching Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, which showed women travelling long distances for basic sanitation and water. It made gender inequality feel real and close to home.

Avni joined Students for Last Mile Learning, a student-led initiative that works to expand access to education. Her contributions helped raise a significant amount of money, supporting education for 16,500 children across 550 schools. She also helped organize workshops with 25 student-led organisations, introducing children to new ideas and opportunities beyond their immediate surroundings.

Her work continues to reach a growing community. Campaign posts were reshared by Jayshree Periwal International School, while public figures including Gopal Sharma, Mumtaz Patel and Divya Mahipal Maderna endorsed the campaign. Her wider initiatives, including Padhao Bharat, also gained recognition from Soumya Gurjar, former Mayor of Jaipur.

Avni shows what young people can do when awareness turns into action.
