Even the smallest act of care can transform a child’s world and ripple out to create a more peaceful and just society.
Sumaita Binta Hasan (15) is a compassionate teenager from Dhaka, Bangladesh, whose strong sense of empathy grew from witnessing inequality and the lack of access to basic needs among children in her community. Raised in a supportive family, she turned that awareness into action.
As an Ambassador for Grow Your Reader Foundation (GYRF), Sumaita actively takes part in campaigns and advocacy initiatives for underprivileged children. She has led fundraising campaigns to help cover educational expenses, school materials, and uniforms for children who need them most. Using social media creatively, she shared stories and posts to promote the work of GYRF and Pahariapara Agamir School, inspiring her peers and community to get involved.
With her family by her side—especially during Ramadan, when they distribute food and gifts to children together—Sumaita has made a real difference: her efforts inspired 15 additional people to donate and support the school’s initiatives, helping more children access the education they deserve.
