Jasnam Singh Arora, Mrityunjay Gupta

Nominee in the Spotlight

Every child deserves the right to dream, and our goal is to build a reality where no circumstance, stigma, or systemic barrier dictates what a child’s life amounts to.

Jasnam Singh Arora (16) and Mrityunjay Gupta (16), from India, saw how financial barriers can make children believe that college, STEM and education are out of reach. The two changemakers set out to open those doors for students from underserved communities.

They helped launch more than 25 student-led organisations and partnered with over 10 government schools to deliver educational workshops. They also led a fundraising campaign that raised $185,000 and worked with NGO Ekal Vidyalaya to channel the resources to 550 schools.

To expand access to digital learning, Jasnam and Mrityunjay led a team of 30 that delivered 50 sessions across six Indian states, encouraging around 6,500 students to use online learning opportunities. They also raised enough money to establish six fully equipped robotics labs in underserved schools.

Their work has reached more than 50,000 visitors, while they have mentored nearly 6,000 students. They have also organized computer and hardware drives and a city-wide RoboSoccer competition with 50 teams, helping more children discover STEM and robotics.
