Platon Nechayev

“Children are not too small to change the world. When we learn to care for nature, we learn to care for each other and for the future of our planet.”

Platon Nechayev (12), growing up in Karaganda, Kazakhstan, in a family where conversations about nature and sustainability were part of everyday life, Platon developed an early curiosity about the natural world — and a real concern for how environmental challenges would affect children’s futures.

Platon channels that concern into storytelling, writing environmental stories that break down complex ecological topics into simple, engaging tales for children. Through his stories, he helps young readers understand why protecting nature and biodiversity matters — not just for the planet, but for their own futures.

Combined with other environmental activities he’s led, Platon’s work has directly engaged more than 5,000 children and young people, with his message reaching even further through digital platforms and media exposure.

With his family, teachers, and mentors supporting him along the way, Platon is proving that even a 12-year-old’s stories can inspire a generation to care for the planet.
