Safiya Alkali Ajikolo
Every story, everything, every single thing in this world starts with intention. I didn't have everything figured out. I just knew I had to start with what I had, where I was. I didn't start with much, just a need to speak up and a desire to

Safiya Alkali Ajikolo (16), is from Nigeria. Growing up deeply aware of the unique challenges girls face, Safiya turned that awareness into action, using her voice to advocate for the rights of the girl child with remarkable courage and clarity of purpose.
Safiya actively participates in children’s and parliamentary forums, raising key issues around children’s leadership, education access, and safety. She spearheaded an outreach program on feminine hygiene in rural schools, teaching girls proper menstrual health management and breaking the stigma around the topic — and intentionally included boys in these sessions to build empathy and normalize the conversation for everyone.
She also chaired a committee coordinating food distribution to orphanages, showing the same leadership and compassion in a different setting. Within her own school, Safiya leads peer-to-peer sensitization initiatives and speaks publicly to amplify the voices of marginalized girls.
With a strong and supportive network behind her, Safiya continues to lead outreach efforts that break down stigma and open doors for girls in her community.
