Suhanee Soni

Change is never about having more “power” - it is about using what you have, wherever you are, to shift something that matters.

Suhanee Soni (16), from Durg, a small town in Chhattisgarh, India, first became aware of healthcare and economic inequity while watching her grandmother go through multiple kidney operations. That experience opened her eyes to a bigger issue: young people, not just the elderly, were also being left behind by gaps in access and education. A conversation with her domestic helper—a single mother who had never learned financial literacy and struggled to support her two daughters—became the spark that pushed Suhanee into action.

She founded FinSpire, a financial literacy organization teaching students aged 10 to 18 how to manage money, save, and invest. FinSpire now has chapters in five countries—Uzbekistan, India, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, and the USA—with a growing network of over 40 members and volunteers. The organization has partnered with more than 50 NGOs to run weekly sessions, and even held an official financial literacy tournament in Mumbai for over 200 students from the DESIRE Foundation.

Recognized as an Ashoka Young Changemaker, Suhanee continues to grow her impact, with FinSpire’s story reaching thousands through social media and school newsletters.
