Wilson Malala Helen Shei

Wilson Malala Helen Shei (13), from Cameroon, grew up amid the Anglophone crisis that began in 2016, witnessing killings, violence, and school closures across the Northwest and Southwest regions. These painful experiences deeply affected her, but it was the death of “Little Carol”—a girl shot on her way to school one morning—that became the turning point, pushing Malala to become the Voice of the Voiceless for children caught in conflict.

Since then, Malala has organized public events on peace and children’s rights, helping many previously unaware children learn how to understand and defend their own rights. She also goes on radio stations to spread awareness about the importance of education for children living through conflict, using her voice to reach communities directly.

With her parents as her mentors and support system, Malala has reached over 3,000 people through her campaigns and conferences—turning personal tragedy into a powerful call for peace and children’s rights in a region still recovering from crisis.
